Sri Venkateswara Kalyanam by India Cares

India Cares” is once again organising the auspicious and divine Sri Venkateshwara Kalyanam (also known as Balaji Kalyanam or Tiru Kalyanam) on the 19th and 20th of May 2012 at Hindu Seva Samaj Hall, Laudium, Pretoria.

Sri Venkateshwara Kalyanam/ Balaji Kalyanam/ Thiru Kalyanam are going very well. Within no time we’re going to be at the event itself and enjoying ourselves to the fullest with the spiritual and musical feast that awaits us!

Just to update you all on the proceedings, TTD has sanctioned us our request for laddoos and vadas, and they will be arriving here a day or two before the event itself.
Sri Venkateshwara Kalyanam is the symbolic celestial wedding of Sri Venkateshwara with his two consorts Padmavati and Laxmi Devi. It is widely believed that Kalyanam of the Supreme Lord is for the well-being of the whole family that participates in this ritual. This is a ritual performed by newlywed couples seeking blessings of the lord for their happy and prosperous married life.

The event spans over two days with the following schedule:

Day 1

  1. Ganesha Homam (Hawan)
  2. Sudarshana Homam (Hawan)
  3. Rathotsawam – Chariot procession along the main streets of Laudium
  4. Fireworks Display
  5. Prasadam/Dinner

 

Day 2

  1. Suprabhatam
  2. Breakfast
  3. Kalyanam
  4. Cultural Events
  5. Prasadam/Lunch

Tickets are at a nominal price of R200 per adult, R100 per child (5-12 years old) for both the days that includes dinner on Day 1, Breakfast and lunch on Day 2.

Tickets are purely on a first come first serve basis. If you wish to make your booking now, you may transfer the donations to the following banking details, your ticket will be handed over to you later by one of our team members.

We are successful in bringing Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) to associate with us this time. TTD is sending the Lord’s prasadam (Tirupathi Laddu as it is known and Vada) to all the devotees participating in this ritual.

Each family or an Individual, buying a ticket, will be given a Prasadam coupon. This coupon should be produced on the second day of the event to collect the prasadam and a gift item (as a token of appreciation) from India Cares.

As you all know your donations, over and above the price of ticket amount, are welcome. You may transfer into the above mentioned account with the above mentioned reference.

As always, ‘India Cares’ pledges that the proceedings of all out events will be ploughed back for the betterment of needy local community as per our motto ‘Giving back to SA‘. In this event as well we aim to give out at least R 50,000 to the deserving charitable institutions.
