Emperor’s Palace invited their gaming clients to a bunny chow luncheon at the newly opened 3 star Peermont Metcourt Hotel. The luncheon comprised of rotis, hollowed out fresh half loaves of bread, lamb, chicken, beef and a broad beans curry for the patrons who were observing a fast. There were tantalizing fresh salads and a dreamy dessert section complete with Tiramisu, trifle, chocolate éclairs and other treats. The staff was friendly and efficient. Dining outside by the pool deck proved to be a perfect Saturday afternoon complete with blissful sunny weather not to mention good company. Chef Darryl Ragavin formally from Durban said that he “wanted to bring an authenthic Indian flair to the gaming patrons in Johannesburg and what better way than to have a bunny chow luncheon” Guest relations host Jason said that this type of event would be held more often for Indian gaming patrons. The food leftover did not go to waste, as it was carefully packed away by the expert chefs and sent with local Bafana Bafana supporters to Rustenburg.

Food and Beverage Manager Grant van der Weshuizen was pleased with the menu and success of the event and gave me a tour of the new hotel which boasts modern décor in a very eco green colour and lighting, Deli bar in reception which caters perfectly for the business traveller, breakfast seating for 248 guests in a well designed ultra modern dining area. The spacious hotel also has 248 rooms at R905 per single room and R1090 per double room subject to availability and season. There is a luxury conference facility suitable for 12 delegates with internet and office facilities. The hotel is also wheelchair friendly.
