Johannesburg Yuvak MandalThe Johannesburg Yuvak Mandal (JYM) has been in existence for the past 18 years. From it’s inception in 1989, the aim of the organisation is to promote religion, culture and development of the youth, through community involvement.

In order to meet this aim, the JYM sustains itself, through professional sound and lighting for major bands, weddings, various variety concerts (musical and dance) as well as religious functions.

Mission of the organisation:

The following indicate the pillars that sustain the organisation:
Community service is worship – Serve One, Serve all – Be kind to humanity

Development of the youth – cultivating the principles of hard work, service, leadership and humility

Instilling Faith on a spiritual path – cultivating strength, courage, sacrifice and purpose

The main Community Projects that the organization part – takes in on an annual basis are as follows:

1. The 108 Hanuman Chalisa Recitals
2. The  Annual Gandhi Walk in Lenasia – where the Cultural Programme that entertained over 5000 people was organized and compered by JYM.
3. The Holi Celebrations at the Mayfair Cultural Centre.
4. Shivaratri Celebrations.
5. Ram Naumee Celebrations.
6. Assisting in sound engineering at various different band and dance shows including ; the Sa Re Ga Show, Miss Lenasia, Jagit Singh
7. Youth Bhajan Mela
8. Gayatri Chalisa

JYM has also undertaken, in association with Kamala Records, to raise funds by

1. Rakesh Chaurasia
2. Raga on 120 Strings.
3. Violinist – DR Lalita
4. Zakhir Hussain

In addition as part of diversity and social responsibility, the JYM also funds on a regular basis the Kigitso Aids Home. The home is a place for children ranging from the ages of one year to eighteen years that are affected or infected by HIV/ AIDS.
