Thaipusam in Queensburgh

This is a festival dedicated to the most popular south indian deity Lord Muruga, who was given a lance(Vel) by Goddess Parvathi to vanquish the demon army Tarakasura. Thai Poosam is therefore a celebration of good over evil.  On this day Lord Muruga is offered milk carried in the Kavady for abishegam (holy bath), fruit, etc. For the first time in Queensburgh, Malvern, Sri Ayyappa Seva Sungam held this celebration and was attended by hundreds of residents in the area.
