Durban: Arul Gnana Iyakkam, SivaLingam consecration

arul gnana iyakkamThe Arul Gnana Iyakkam established circa 2001 by a small band of devotees who are ardent followers of H.H. Sri Siva Soobramonia Guru Swamigal.  It is an organisation based in Northdene propagating and promoting  Saivism and the philosophy  known as Saiva Sithantham. This religion is one of the oldest religion of the world.   It is a Monotheistic religion that believes in one God. The sacred works of the Saiva Saints is known as Thirumurais. They are  twelve in number.

The Iyakkam is proud in that being in existence for eleven years has acquired it’s first Sivalingam from South India. The Sivalingam is the most important Deity for all Saivites or South Indians in general.  It is worshipped at Temples who believe in Lord Siva. It is a Deity with a formless form.  The Iyakkam makes every endeavour in trying to keep alive Saivite agamic teachings as propagated by our Guru Swamigal.

This lingam would be installed and consecrated at our Temple in Marceline Drive, Northdene.   The date is on Sunday 24 June 2012 at 9.h00. Please contact us for enquiries on

A week -long cultural programme has been organised for the 17 to the 23/06/2012.  Artists like Mahenthiri Pillay, Karthigasen Pillay will render devotional songs dedicated to Lord Siva.  A CD will be launched on this day as well. The function will commence with a mass Sunday Service of all our branches and sister organisations.

The members have agreed that this being an historic occassion for all Saivites of the country will invitel other Saivite organisations to participate in the proceeding of the Consecration Prayer which will commence at 10.00am with the anointing of the Siva Lingum by our devotees as well as members of our sister organisations.

The Arul Gnana Iyakkam offers free Music and Singing Classes, Yoga and Meditation, conducts funerals, memorial services etc to the community.

We have five branches in the following areas – Northdene, Umkomaas, Park Rynie, Lotus Park, and Lenasia in Gauteng. Our Spiritual Head is Guru Arunajellam, the son of The Late Swami Karunainandha, who was the successor of Sri Siva Soobramoniar Guru Swamigal, the founder of the Saivite Movement of the South Africa.
