When is Diwali in South Africa?

Diwali, or Deepavali, is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated annually and  one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism.

Diwali symbolises the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance”

Diwali celebration dates are as follows

  • Tuesday, 6 November , 2018 – Deepavali (South Indians)
  • Wednesday, 7 November, 2018 – Diwali (North Indians)
