The Tongaat Hindu Unity Forum believes that serving the poor, providing for their needs and making them self sufficient coupled with awareness campaigns to fortify Hindus, aligns itself with the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. This being the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swamiji, the THUF Committee felt that it can use his teachings to inspire the community and get them to have more faith in themselves.
The Forum has therefore planned a family Fun Run / Walk on 15 June 2013 themed “Arise Awake” to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swamiji. This will also assist in regrouping the Hindu community and help re-establish confidence within the society. The project is also important from a youth perspective to deal with issues and challenges that plague them from a Vedantic view point.
The registration for the participants has begun. The Tongaat Hindu Unity Forum is honoured to join in the global celebrations of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th Birth Anniversary through this event and feel honoured to spread His message which has the ability to awaken the sleeping masses. Swamiji has no doubt been a champion of youth and continues to inspire, motivate and empower young people with His prolific messages such as “Arise, Awake and stop not till the goal is reached”.
