Best of Kodambakkam: Thalaivaa

thalaivaax200Vijay’s much awaited movie “Thalaivaa” is an action packed, romance entertainer about a rich, soft-spoken guy who has a keen interest only in dance and how circumstances see his gradual transformation into a much respected leader of the masses. This Vijay-starrer is one of the most anticipated movies of 2013, having been made with a budget of approximately R100 million. The trailer of the movie has already generated a lot of buzz, crossing 2.5 million viewers and 24000 likes, further enhancing expectations of the movie. The music, composed by GV Prakash is already topping the charts worldwide, including South Africa.

Amala Paul (Mynaa, Deiva Thirumagal) plays the female lead and the rest of the cast includes Santhanam, Sathyaraj, Manobala, Ragini Nandwani and Rajeev Pillai. The film is produced by Chandraparakash Jain under Sri Mishri Productions banner and is directed by AL Vijay of Thandavam fame. And the director said “The moment you write a script which has a protagonist turning into some sort of a leader, taking over from someone else, and, on top of it, set in Mumbai, it is difficult to avoid comparisons with films such as Nayagan. But, again, I assure you, it’s not similar in content.”

The movie is largely set in the Tamil speaking areas of Mumbai and Sydney and the songs picturized in some exotic locations in Sydney is said to be a visual treat.

Thalaivaa creates Tamil movie history in South Africa, as it will be released simultaneously worldwide on 9th August 2013…great news for Indian cinema in South Africa.
