Eastwave Radio 92.2 FM (EWR) has been tuned in by listeners of Actonville but now the radio station is finally bringing you the faces behind the mic. Broadcasting vastly over the Gauteng area, the team is coming to the Benoni Seva Samaj Hall on Saturday 31 August 2013 in favour of the Indian Fair and their “Avikar Melodies Show”.
Station Manager and former childhood resident of Actonville, Vikash Maharagh, has been the driving force behind the not-for-profit radio station and said, “This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the Indian community of Actonville after many years in broadcasting and hope to now gain support and participation from these special residents.“With the Avikar Concert, we are excited to launch the inaugural broadcast and a ‘meet and greet’ session with our long standing volunteers of the station,” concluded Vikash.
On, 31st August, the Indian Fair will be a mixed bag of music, art and culture when the energized radio team takes over the Avikar Concert at night. Joining the band, will be the evergreen “Soppy”, a long time favourite of the people. The history filled township of Actonville will be alive with festivities lined up and various stalls including arts and crafts, books, fashion and beauty products, religious artefacts and the best in band in the business.
