The most advanced cinema experience on the continent, exclusive to Ster-Kinekor, Gateway, Durban.

ster-kinekorWith Anirudh’s music topping the charts worldwide the release is going to be a memorable experience for the fans in Durban. A not-to-miss premiere of Vannakam Chennai!

The movie is scheduled to be released in Ster-Kinekor cinemas in Durban and Johannesburg on 11 October 2013 and then a week later in Cape Town.

Music Highlights:  Anirudh has an uncanny knack of getting the ‘hook’ right in most of his songs. Once he ensures that the hook — or the stock phrase in any number — is catchy, he packages it with pleasant backgrounds and delivers a neat tune. Just listen to the stock phrases in Oh Penne…, Osaka Osaka… and Ailasa… in this album, Vanakkam Chennai, and you’ll know what we’re talking about. The album starts off with a breezy Hey…, by Papon, Maria Roe Vincent. Packed with some groovy vocals, this fast number is sure to have people dancing thanks to the beats.

‘Singer’ Anirudh and Pragathi come up with a winner in Osaka, a rustic number. If you thought he could do justice only to techno music and modern songs, give this a listen. An excellent violin interlude and interesting lyrics by Karky just makes things better! The same cannot be said of Engadi Porandha, a track by Anirudh and Andrea, which fails to impress. But the quirky Oh Penne makes up for it, as does its other international version. Both have a distinct Ethir Neechal hangover though. The melodious Ailasa… is catchy and once Suchitra takes over, it’s a treat for the ears. With a delightful stock phrase, melody lovers will lap up this one. And the Osaka… phrase, a slower version, is a neat addition. The album ends with the high-on-energy Chennai City Gangsta a ‘tribute’ to Chennai in terms of lyric.
