Vijay TV Super Singer Pragathi in Durban

Pragathi_ConcertAfter successful shows like “Pattikada Pattanama” a tribute concert to Sivaji Ganesan and M.G. Ramachandran, “Superstars Nite” and A.R Rahman Nite, Deepam Productions presents Vijay TV’s Supersingers Pragathi in Amuthum Thenum Nite.

It will feature a selection of Tamil Golden Oldies in a 3 hour entertainment programme.

The concert will also include local musicians, dancers and singers Runga Naidoo (a Gold Medalist of the Tamil Eisteddfod), Kumaran Raman (a Graduate of Thamizh University, Thanjavur), Pragalathan Mervin Vadivel (a graduate of Annamali University, Chidambaram) and Mary Naidoo, daughter of the famous Ganesh Maistry of the band Kalaimagal Entertainers of Chatsworth.

Although our “tag line” says “A selection of Golden Oldies”, Pragathi will be singing a few newer songs and songs from the 80’s to cater for all her fans.

Deepam Productions was established in 1998 to preserve, protect and promote Indian heritage focusing on South Indian music, arts, dance and literature and has embarked on and joint ventured with many organizations nationally and internationally to realize this aim. Thus far we had many successful initiatives across South Africa and in some parts of the world.

Other programmes hosted were a tribute concert to Thayagaraja Bhagvathar at the UDW Hindu Centre, Sai Swarnamalika , a musical tribute marking the 1st death anniversary of Sai Baba hosted together with the Ranganathar Temple Society, Greenwood Park and in 2012 Women’s Day, we had a Women’s day classical concert involving and empowering women in all aspects of the concert including the artists, the musicians and the sound engineering, hosted with the Shri Ranganathar Temple Society, Greenwood Park.

A Tribute to T.M. Soundararajan was held at the Marieammen Temple Grounds last year to pay tribute to the singer who passed on.

“Amuthum Thenum Nite” is admission free and the general public is invited to attend.

The show will be held on 19 July 2014 at the Shri Mariammen Temple Grounds, Mt. Edgecombe commencing at 6 pm.

This is an outdoor event but marquee and chairs will be provided. However, the public are urged to dress warm and if possible carry cushions.
