Mrs South Africa

Meet Mrs. South Africa finalist, Marlene Naiker

Mrs South AfricaMrs. South Africa is married, sophisticated and beautiful! She works, cooks, cleans, teaches, nurtures and even does the laundry! She is the embodiment of the everyday woman with a touch of class. She is willing and able to make a difference in her own home, her family and her community. She is real.

She is elegant and intelligent. She is confident but not arrogant and comfortable in her own skin. She falls and picks herself up again and she does not give up. She is giving of her time and energy.

She draws inspiration from all the strong women around her whether it be learning how to cook from her mother; love from her granny or be more patient like her helper. She acknowledges the roles they all have to play in making her successful in her daily life. She seeks to guide, inspire and mentor those around her as well. She is a master juggler and shows passion in all aspects of her life.

For me this is the definition of Mrs. South Africa. I am Marlene Naiker. I am happily married for almost 14 years, with one son aged nine who is the “light of my life”. I have a Bachelor of Science degree as well as an Honours degree in Psychology, both from University of Witwatersrand. I also hold a postgraduate qualification in ‘Leading Trends in People Management’ from Wits Business School. I have a background as an HR generalist for almost 10 years now at various international consulting organisations and I am currently the People Lead at KPMG. I enjoy the coaching and counselling aspects of my role.

My interests include entertaining my family and friends, event planning and photography. Travelling with my family is the best way to recharge and, together, we enjoy experiencing new cultures and cuisines. I also enjoy science fiction movies and series and watching sports such as F1, rugby and soccer.

I am the head volunteer at Babies Behind Bars (NPO)

and assist in fundraising, packing days and collecting baby goods. I will also be working closely with CANSA during my time as a finalist.

I entered Mrs South Africa in December 2014 to make a further difference in my community and South Africa. My platform will be work life integration, where I feel I can inspire working mothers on how they can have it all.

I want to thank my amazing family and friends for their help and support in this journey and not forgetting the most amazing personal GOLD sponsors including :
