The daughter of Ela Gandhi has been ordered to hand over her passport to police and to get their permission if she wants to leave KwaZulu-Natal. On Thursday evening, Ashish Lata Ramgobin was arrested by Captain Collin Gopalsamy of the Hawks at her flat in South Ridge Road, Durban. She was detained at the holding cells of the Durban North police station.
Ramgobin seemed to be unfamiliar with court proceedings when she appeared before magistrate Vanitha Armu. After entering the court from the grille, she initially passed the dock and had to be guided there by her attorney, Devan Moodley. Armu ordered her to hand over her passport to Gopalsamy and to sign in at the Hawks offices on Thursdays.
The matter was adjourned to November 19.
