According to latest investigative reports by The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), there is no possibility of a murder or a foul play being involved in the Jiah Khan case. Jiah Khan was found hanging from the ceiling of her residence on June 3, 2013 and her former boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was charged with driving her to commit suicide.
In December 2015, the CBI filed a chargesheet against Sooraj for abetting Jiah’s suicide. Rabia then moved the high court again alleging the CBI had not looked at some crucial evidence.
Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh told a division bench of Justice Naresh Patil and Justice Prakash Naik: “The CBI has no reason to protect the accused (actor Sooraj Pancholi) in the case.
According to Rabia’s claims, her daughter was murdered. However, contradictory to Rabia’s claims, CBI has ruled out all the possibilities of it being a murder case and according to their investigation, the cause of Jiah’s death was “suicide by hanging”.
Rabia had claimed that someone had entered Jiah’s flat through the window and the distance between the fan and the floor did not support the case of suicide has been dispelled by the CBI.
But CBI could not find any proof of the fact that someone had entered the flat and marks on Jiah’s neck could be caused by the dupatta which she had used to hang herself. Now the High court will take a call on Jiah Khan’s mother’s Rabia Khan’s plea on August 23.
