He took my hues, my spectrums of being, left an unwashed pallor on my skin. Can you see me, between the seconds that I blink? The part of me that unfolds and contracts in limpid pools of molten. This is my reservoir of silence, my vacuum that swallows each memory whole before I glimpse it anywhere near my periphery. Stripped of meaning, of weapons, disappearing faster than it appeared. Devoid of thoughts. The beauty of it, is that it’s quiet in here. It’s thick, viscous, and plastic. It’s the silence between the screams, the breaths between the sobs, the spaces between these written words. I live in those echoed spaces now. I worry that you will suffocate in it. So I look away.

Through The Lens Of Punam Dave

13239358_1730758040532965_3759410342756122750_nI was born in the little town of Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. As a kid I always appreciated nature & was always outside, climbing trees, getting dirty & discovering the wonderful world outside the 4 walls of my room. I was a tomboy. Growing up in Limpopo meant going out on many picnics, visiting villages & of course going to the Kruger National Park, with the closest gate being only 130 kilometers away. For this reason nature & wildlife are very close to my heart. I take the time out to really appreciate it.

I have had a camera in my hand from as far back as I remember. Whenever we went on family holidays or outings, I was the one who took all the photos. Whenever I went out with friends, I would be the annoying one asking everyone to pose for some photos. Nothing has changed:-).

I started off in the digital era, with a Samsung ST500 compact camera, which I still have today. A few years later I moved up to my first DSLR camera, a Nikon D3100 which I am currently using. I have managed to get a few extra lenses. Then there’s my mobile phone, which I have always taken photo’s with. Unfortunately the Nokia 3310 didn’t have a camera so I also worked my way up in terms of mobile photography. I am currently using an iPhone 5S which I am very happy with, its iSight camera is brilliant & I take a lot of my photos with this. Accompanying my iPhone are iPhoneography lenses & an LED light which I absolutely love!

So as the years have gone by I have come to realize that photography is something which I have become extremely passionate about. I have traveled a great deal through South Africa, have been to Hong Kong & New Zealand twice. I hope to travel a lot more in the future, taking my camera gear along of course. I hope you enjoy looking at the way I see the world:-).
