Life is difficult for everyone but how difficult do regular things get when you’re different? The realisation to yourself, the acceptance, making everyone else accept….are just the bigger battles. The smaller battles are the real ones to win and very few people find happiness while fighting them.
Bishesh Huirem, is a 27-year-old Manipuri actress who also identifies herself as transgender and is all set to represent India at Miss International Beauty Queen in Thailand to be held next month.
She has a degree in Fashion and Apparel design from the University of Bengaluru. She got her degree from the money she made by acting for mobile theatre (a popular form of entertainment in the northeast). Today she is among the highest-paid actors, with a tally of several awards.
Even though she is happy and grateful for this opportunity, she is saddened by the way the LGBTQ community is treated in her state.
Ms. Huirem told the “Poknapham” newspaper in Manipur that she is proud to represent India at the international contest of transgenders.
Her mother, Khomdonleima, is proud of Bishesh and of the struggle she has faced.
