Keshav Maharaj, remember this cricketer’s name. He may have possibly secured himself into the Proteas Test squad for the forthcoming three-match series Down Under tour to Australia.

The Dolphins left-arm spinner who is uncapped kicked off with a career-best 7/89 on Friday at Buffalo Park then klapped 12 wickets on the very same day.

According to sources, Maharaj could be the kryptonite against Australia who’s team comprises of mainly right-handed batsmen.  Selection panels have kept a close eye on the uncapped cricketer who’s played for the South Africa A side and also spent time in Mumbai at spinning camp.

There has been a keen interest in the Proteas to arm their arsenal with the option of a left-arm spinner in their line-up and Maharaj fits the cap perfectly ahead of Cape Cobras off-spinner Dane Piedt

Maharaj made his first-class debut at the age of 16 for KwaZulu-Natal in 2006-07. He was promoted to the Dolphins team in 2009-10.
