An honest, candid and no-holds barred Kangana Ranaut made Sunday night’s episode of Koffee With Karan eminently watchable. It was clearly evident that the small town girl had got a lot of attitude from industry insiders like Karan Johar himself during her initial years in Bollywood, and Kangana made sure that the filmmaker knew that all was not forgiven nor forgotten.
Check out Kangana’s best moments on Koffee With Karan.
Kangana told Karan about how Aditya Chopra had recently called her to his studio and admitted that he had completely written off the actress when she first met him. “Aditya Chopra said, Kangana 10 years ago when you came to my office, with Riku Rakeshnath, I told Riku ke – iss ladki ka kuch nahi hone wala, and today I am very glad to tell you that I was so wrong,” narrated the Queen actress.
Now, that’s quite a story!
Kangana also got Karan to admit that he too did not think that the actress had any potential during her early years in Bollywood. She made an embarrassed Karan recall that he had made fun of her English on this very show. But she also credited this “attitude” from Karan for making her try harder. “You’ve been the driving force in my life. If it wasn’t for all the rejections and mocking, you made fun of my English on this couch, you made fun of everything,” revealed Kangana on the show.
- Kangana doesn’t attend award shows, though it means losing out on visibility.
- Kangana isn’t on social media, though it means losing out on being a sought after star endorser.
- Kangana doesn’t do stage shows, though it means losing out on a lot of money.
- Kangana doesn’t endorse fairness creams, though it means losing out on deals with international cosmetic brands.
The actress would rather let all this go, to retain something more valuable – her values. Awesome!
According to Kangana, if some directors find her overbearing or interfering, well, that’s their problem. The Tanu Weds Manu actress admitted that she fights a lot with her directors. Kangana is clear that – if a film set does not have creative conflicts, it’s not going right. Well said!
Karan Johar didn’t see this coming. When asked who in the industry has given her unnecessary attitude, Kangana replies point-blank, “I think it’s you, Karan!”
The actress then goes on to describe the role Karan will play in her biopic – “In my biopic you’ll play the Bollywood biggie, who’s very snooty and completely intolerant to outsiders and the flag-bearer of nepotism, the movie mafia.”
Karan’s reaction to this is priceless (catch it below).
Yes, KJo gets burned again.
Only Kangana can keep a straight face while delivering that answer. She backs it up with a reason – “I don’t want to work with anyone with whom I don’t have an equal role.”
All hail the Queen!
Saif Ali Khan couldn’t keep a straight face on the show with Kangana going all guns blazing.
