March For Change This Friday In Johannesburg

In a statement issued today, against the backdrop of the calls by civil society and NGO’s to remove Jacob Zuma, the official opposition party, DA have taken a decision to lead a ‘March for Change’ through the streets of Johannesburg this Friday, 7 April 2017.

The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation are also urging the public to ‘not support nameless, faceless initiatives’ that will cause confusion across the country.

The DA press statement highlights, “This is not a party political matter. It is a matter of urgent national importance, which affects all of us as South Africans, and thus transcends party politics”.

The march will finish at Beyers Naude Square in the Johannesburg CBD, where a rally will be held calling for Jacob Zuma to be removed.

Labour federations have indicated that any calls for a national shutdown or stay aways will not be supported as these initiatives would undermine the economy furtherA general consensus amongst the various labour bodies is that they will be guided by by a clear mandate from their members.
