An exhausted and unkept looking Brendon Naidoo in chains, was arraigned this morning at the Alexandra Magistrates Court for his bail application. Naidoo who is linked to renowned DJ Zinhle spent Easter weekend behind bars. This morning’s bail hearing for Naidoo was successful, he has been granted R60 000 bail.
The state was expected to oppose Naidoo’ bail application with the investigating officer reading out the contents of the docket, but this was not the case as prosecutor Jimmy Shongwe immediately asked for a R100,000 bail.
Naidoo’s defence counsel asked for a lesser amount R60,000 which he said was immediately available should his client be given bail.
The Magistrate Renier Boshoff stipulated the conditions of the bail was that Naidoo would have to report to the Sandton Police station twice a week
Naidoo’s lawyer, Himendra Naidoo said that the family is relieved that his client’s application has been successful. State prosecutor Jimmy Shongwe outlined that Naidoo is being investigated for multiple counts of fraud after numerous charges were filed by people who allege that Naidoo has taken millions in a shady foreign-exchange trading scheme.
Naidoo is expected to be back in court on May 5.
