Joburg Theatre is proud to present the internationally acclaimed and celebrated Indian drama; A Passage to Bollywood. The show is a vibrant theatrical extravaganza, which has been largely enjoyed in various countries since 2015, making its debut in South Africa, right here in Johannesburg. With a stellar cast, intriguing plot, colourful costumes and great music, the show will be staged on The Mandela stage from June 21st to July 9th 2017.
It tells the story of a young village boy Sandy, who moves to the big city of Mumbai, to follow his dream. A classic Bollywood tale of love and friendship, the musical follows his journey in Mumbai, and focuses on the relationships he builds over time with the woman of his dreams Leela, and the ‘Don’ Tejas Bhai – who takes him under his wing, almost like his big brother.
Filled with romance and drama, the story takes on an unexpected twist that delivers a surprising end to its audience. Full of traditional Indian values and customs, and depicted by a group of high energy dance routines, it brings the true vivacity and enchantment of India to life. The musical showcases the artistry of Indian folk dance along with more modern genres of dance performed by a cast whose energy is electrifying.
