Newsbreak Lotus: Talking Toilet With Bhumi Pednekar

If all 774 million people in India waiting for household toilets were made to stand in a line, the queue would stretch from earth to the moon and beyond.

That’s the startling findings of a 2015 study titled ‘It’s No Joke – State of the World’s Toilets’ by WaterAid. A new Bollywood film – “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” is challenging age-old traditions and values in India where families refuse to erect toilets at home so to not associate excretion with cooking or praying. The film starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar released worldwide on the 11 of August.

The Indian superstar Akshay Kumar starrer TOILET: EK PREM KATHA is making waves in the international markets. Spurred on by the incredible Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan initiative (Clean India Movement), the film has touched nerves with audiences across continents.
