Veteran Durban broadcaster and Lotus FM “Life ‘n Style” presenter Zakia Ahmed-Siddique celebrates 30-years behind the microphone.

The pioneering personality started her career at the then-Radio Truro – the first “voice” for South Africans of Indian origin. Zakia then joined Lotus FM in 1985, presenting various shows such as The Morning Breakfast Show, the Islamic religious programme – Deenyath, Local Vocal and a host of youth programmes. In Newsbreak’s Legends series this week, we focus on a Legend of RADIO.

In her 30 years at LotusFM, Zakia brought people of the community together through her many planned outside broadcasts, charity drives and women empowerment programmes.  Zakia has compered many National and International shows and has represented LotusFM across South Africa.

Zakia is passionate about making people happy and has promised to bring that energy to the airwaves…
