The South African Indian community mourns the loss of noted Durban comedian, Melvyn David (32) who was best known for his role in the popular Ding-a-Lings production.
David was killed in the early hours of Thursday morning in a car crash on the N2 South-bound near Clare Road, Durban where his vehicle allegedly collided with the back of a truck.
The news of his death was confirmed in a Facebook post on his page by a family member, Darshan:
“Hi all. This is Darshan. With a heavy heart, I confirm the passing away of my brother. Please keep our family in prayer during this time. Funeral details to follow. Rest in Peace Melvyn David.”
Friends, family and fans have since taken to Facebook to express their sadness and send messages of condolence at David’s passing.
Kumseela Naidoo, director at the Dingalings Production posted
“It is with the heaviest heart and greatest sadness that we face the news that our beautiful Melvyn David passed on in an accident this morning.”
Koobeshan Naidoo, also part of the Dingalings line-up, wrote
“RIP Melvyn David. I’m going to miss you my brother.”
