“The happiness of the world is transitory. The less you become attached to the world, the more you enjoy peace of mind.” – Sri Sarada Devi, a 19th century saintess of Bengal whose 165th birth anniversary is being celebrated all over India.
Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai is the first branch center of the Ramakrishna Order in Southern India. It was started in the year 1897 by Swami Ramakrishnananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Besides Swami Ramakrishnananda, the Math was visited by Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Brahmananda and Swami Shivananda.
Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, has a long history of more than hundred years of service to society.
All the activities of the Math—whether it be educating students at a school, nursing patients in a medical facility or serving in the temple or kitchen or garden—are considered different forms of a single act of worship. Public can also participate in any of these activities which help to purify the mind and to progress in spiritual life.
