Piyush Sahdev rape case actor in deep trouble

The ‘Beyadh’ actor who was arrested on charges of rape, finds himself sinking deep into trouble.

The year 2018 has brought some relief for television actor Piyush Sahdev, who was arrested on November 22, on rape charges. After more than a month in jail, he was finally granted bail on December 27.

Piyush, who is known for his roles in shows like ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’, ‘Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke’ and ‘Beyhadh’, was arrested after a 23-year-old aspiring actress accused him of raping her after promising marriage

Piyush’s first two bail pleas were rejected and he has been in police custody ever since. Now, further development on the case suggests that there was definitely sexual assault. Medical reports of Piyush, confirm that he is guilty of rape.

After stepping out of Arthur Road Jail, Piyush spoke exclusively to Bombay Times.

He said, “I am just thankful to God that I am out of jail. The case is sub judice and I will talk only with my lawyers’ consent. Nobody likes to be in jail; I have lost many days of my life. I just want to get back to work now.”

He added, “I would like to thank all those who didn’t jump to conclusions and believed that the judicial system should decide who is wrong or right. I have full faith in the judiciary of our country and the real truth will come out soon.”

Contrary to reports about the actor not being given permission to travel outside the country, he said, “No, I can travel anywhere for work, but I have to be present for judicial proceedings on the case and I will abide by the rules.”

What happened between him and the woman?
When the woman found some photographs of him with another girl, they broke out into a nasty fight and the actor apparently refused to marry her. The woman had then approached the police on November 20 and filed a rape case against him.

Piyush’s estranged wife, Akangsha Rawat, has remained silent over the past few weeks on this issue, finally decided to open up about her divorce from the actor and the rape charges against him.

She said, “We have not yet filed for divorce. It’s not an easy decision to take when you think of divorce. We both wanted to feel that it was indeed over between us. I am not going back to him. And that’s for sure.”

Akangsha further added on Piyush’s arrest and said,”I don’t want to talk on that for now. But I will, very soon, I will talk on everything soon.”

Before this instance, when she was contacted just after Piyush’s arrest, she had said, “I have not been in touch with Piyush for the last four months. So, I am not aware of anything. We have been living separately since April this year.” Akangsha even said to an online portal, “While everyone is waiting for my quote, I know what my statement can do to Piyush’s reputation. But I’m still quiet. I hope and wish that his family can respect and value this gesture.”

Piyush and Akangsha had met through mutual friends. They had tied the knot in June 2012 after dating for a year. There were reports that suggested the former couple had moved in together before being married which she confirmed and said,  “Yes, we had moved in together. We were in a live-in relationship for 10 months before we tied the knot.” Piyush, earlier, declared his separation with her and now Akangsha clarified it.

Earlier, Akangsha also filed a complaint accusing Piyush of harassment. Sources alleged that Piyush was a wife-beater but Akangsha chose to stay mum on the issue.
