The board of management at the Aryan Benevolent Home expressed their shock following the tragic discovery of an eight-year-old girl, who allegedly hung herself at the Bhai Rambharos Home for Children, on Sunday.
Board secretary, Nirode Bramdaw, said the matter has been handed over to officials at the Department of Social Development and the South African Police Service, who are conducting an investigation into the sad demise.
“At this stage, none of us are able to comment on the tragic event. This is the first loss of life in our children’s home since the establishment of the ABH in 1921,” added Bramdaw.
Updates will follow once more information becomes available to us.
