RACISM: Social cohesion in South African schools by Dr. Raj Govender

The effigy of Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi found hanging outside the Dept of Education in Gauteng sparked outrage across the country.

This follows several threats made to Lesufi and his family, since the ANC-led government’s decision to change the language policy at certain schools in the province from Afrikaans-only to parallel medium. To help us understand whats at the heart of this behavior is social anthropologist and social cohesion expert, Dr Raj Govender
