The 9-year-old Sadia Sukhraj who was shot and killed in a hijacking in Durban yesterday was laid to rest today.

Her death sparked protests in Chatsworth, after which some 20 people were arrested. Police in KwaZulu-Natal are denying accusations officials used excessive force in dealing with the protesters.

Police fired rubber bullets and arrested about 20 protesters yesterday afternoon. The protest was sparked by the killing of 9-year-old Sadia Sukhraj during a hijacking outside a school in Shallcross. Sadia Sukhraj is being laid to rest today.
