Indian spiritual leader commits suicide

Bhayyuji Maharaj, a spiritual leader with a strong following in Maharashtra, announced retirement from public life in 2016. 

It is alleged that he shot himself and has been admitted to Bombay hospital in Indore, reported ANI. He reportedly succumbed to his injuries, the reasons behind the alleged act are yet unknown. More details are awaited.

Bhayyuji, who is originally from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, surprised many with the sudden announcement considering his proximity to political leaders in Maharashtra.

Bhayyuji, originally Udaysinh Deshmukh, has received honorary Doctor of Letters (D Litt) from D Y Patil medical university .

In his late forties, Bhayyuji is the founder of institutions like Shri Sadguru Datta Dharmik Evam Parmarthik Trust, Suryodaya Ashram.
