South Africa’s Avalon movie mogul Moosa Moosa dies

Tributes are pouring in for Avalon Movie Mogul, Moosa Moosa who died late yesterday afternoon. He was 75. It’s reported Moosa had been admitted to hospital for surgery early last week.

In the 1980’s the intrepid businessman acquired sole ownership of the Avalon Group which was founded by his father, AB Moosa senior. The Avalon Group is South Africa’s largest and oldest independent Cinema Exhibition and Entertainment Company.

Not withstanding the turbulent times of apartheid, Moosa Moosa and his son AB Moosa Jnr persevered and rebuilt the Avalon brand. The group’s growth since has been unprecedented.  Former Lotus FM manager and Bollywood critic Fakir Hassen is a close family friend who remembers the mogul.
