#Bollyversary: Chennai Express completes 5 years

One of the most recent films to hit a milestone is Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express.

The Rohit Shetty venture completed 5 years this month of August, having been released on August 8, 2013.

The film is one of the highest grossing movies till date, and remains Shah Rukh’s highest grossing film and Deepika’s second highest (after Padmaavat).

The film effortlessly managed to blend comedy with insanity, and gave us some of the catchiest music we’ve seen in recent Bollywood history.

To commemorate this moment, here are 5 things that would probably shock ‘all the Rajni fans’.

1. Deepika wasn’t the first choice

Believe it or not, Rohit Shetty did not originally plan to call the film Chennai Express. In fact, to lend a more southern sound to the film, he wanted to call it Ready Steady Po. However, to emphasise more of the southern connection and also highlight the importance of the train scene for Shah Rukh and Deepika’s characters, he settled for Chennai Express, while the original title was made the tagline.
