#Bollyversary: Chennai Express completes 5 years

One of the most recent films to hit a milestone is Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express.

The Rohit Shetty venture completed 5 years this month of August, having been released on August 8, 2013.

The film is one of the highest grossing movies till date, and remains Shah Rukh’s highest grossing film and Deepika’s second highest (after Padmaavat).

The film effortlessly managed to blend comedy with insanity, and gave us some of the catchiest music we’ve seen in recent Bollywood history.

To commemorate this moment, here are 5 things that would probably shock ‘all the Rajni fans’.

The Pakistani distributors and exhibitors abandoned Chennai Express, saying that there four other Pakistani films that deserve more attention and screen time on the Eid day of release. The film was eventually released a day later, and still managed to make Rs 1.8 crore in its first weekend. If the release were postponed by, say, a week, the film could’ve lost crores, considering the depletion in value due to piracy.
