Boney Kapoor auctions Sridevi’s sari

#MUMBAI: 24 February this year will be the first death anniversary and to mark the occasion, husband Boney Kapoor and the rest of her family have decided to put up one of her beloved saris for auction and donate the proceedings to a charitable organisation.

At current, a South African individual is currently in the lead in the bid war for the sari who has bid for the 4th time now bringing the stakes close to Rs100,000.

The identity of the person is known to Indian Spice who’s reportedly set on acquiring the sari no matter what the bid is.

The family have chosen the website Parisera as the platform where the starting bid for the sari is Rs 40,000 and the current bid as of this article was Rs 60,000 by a South African and he has now increased his bid to Rs 90,000 this morning (18 February, 2019) and today the bid by the individual has gone up to close to Rs 100,000.

Being generous with Sridevi

While the entire industry was awestruck by the unstoppable phenomenon called Sridevi, the audience was falling in love with a woman who was a firecracker in disguise.

Only a few actors can be remembered for their screen names, Sridevi was definitely one of them. She started her career as a child artist and quickly catapulted the hierarchy to become one of India’s first female superstars. This iconic actress was also revered for her fashion choices. She dazzled in Kanjivarams and looked like a mini-constellation.

Her fans have always adored her saris, and it is perfect that the Kapoor family decided to auction one of her favourite saris.

The earnings will be donated to Concern India Foundation, which works for the benefit of women, children, the differently abled, the underprivileged and the elderly.

“Being born in a South-Indian household, the actress has worn saris as a badge of her identity and has always infused a sense of unique charisma into its pleats. For the auction, the family has chosen a Kota sari. It is light, bright and emanates the perfect essence of Sridevi.”

“Today, we invite all the admirers to bid for a part of Sridevi’s legacy while making a contribution towards the betterment of the society,” the website noted.

Sridevi is considered one of the most iconic and influential actresses of the modern era in Indian cinema. She got married to producer Boney Kapoor in 1996, and they have two daughters Janhvi and Khushi. She passed away at the age of 56 on 24 February, 2018.
