Husband & wife dead after argument in Palmview, Phoenix

#DURBAN: An alleged domestic dispute led to a murder of a woman and subsequent suicide of her husband last night at Palmview, Phoenix north of Durban.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa, the South African Police and a private ambulance service rushed to scene of a murder suicide at Fanpalm Gardens in Palmview – Phoenix in KwaZulu Natal.

At approximately 21:07, RUSA Phoenix Operations Centre received several calls from residents in the area reporting shots being fired on the property.

The body of a woman was found lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen in an outbuilding. The woman had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and the body of her husband was found in the passage also with a gunshot wound to the head.

At current it is believed that the couple were involved in a domestic dispute when the husband drew his firearm and shot his wife thereafter turning the gun on himself.

The incident occurred in the presence of their two children who were not injured during the shooting.

It is alleged that the firearm used in the shooting belonged to the husbands late father & the gun was removed from his mums’ home without her consent.

The motive behind the shooting has not been established at this stage.
