The official 2020 Hindu calendar of festivals, auspicious timings and other South African Tamil and Telugu calendars for the Hindu new year. The forthcoming religious events include Navratri and Purtassi. The Navratri celebration is where Hindu devotees observe Navratri for nine days and pay their respects to various forms of the Hindu goddess Durga. According to the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated in the month of Ashvin, that generally falls in September and October. Navratri in 2020 will begin on Saturday, 17 October and ends on Sunday, 25 October.
The Purtassi 2020 fasting season for Hindus begins 17 September until 16 October and that too under the lockdown. During this special religious period, Hindu followers observe Saturday prayer during the fasting where prayers are dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
