Kollywood actor-director Raghava Lawrence is all set to make his foray into Hindi film scene with the remake of Kanchana. The film is based on the tale of a ghost possessing the hero to avenge wrongdoers.
In the original Tamil version, Sarathkumar played the role of a transgender person named Kanchana, who is murdered by the antagonist in the movie.
Raghava Lawrence is on the cloud nine about his Bollywood debut. In a conversation with Deccan Chronicle, he said, “Akshay Kumar and I have been in talks for a year and a half toying with the idea of remaking Kanchana in Hindi.
And after several discussions, it has come to shape finally. I am improvising the script to suit the present times, Akshay’s image and also Bollywood audience tastes.”
It has been rumored that Amitabh Bachchan will essay the role of a transgender character.
The question that hovers amongst movie fans is why can’t the producers look at offering the role to a transgender actor instead of roping in Bachchan?
Raghava is working on a series of changes to the script in order to appeal to a Bollywood audience.
