Actor Amitabh Bachchan to receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award

The legendary actor completes 50 years in the film industry this year. He made his debut with Saat Hindustani in 1969 and has gone on to star in over 200 films in five decades.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has been “unanimously selected” for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his immense contribution to cinema.

Amitabh is already a four-time National Award winner, where he received the Best Actor award for AgneepathBlackPaa and Piku. Amitabh’s first award came in the form of Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award ALSO for Anand in 1971.

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, announced the same on Twitter.

“The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him,” he wrote.

The 76-year-old actor was last seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s suspense thriller Badla. The actor will next be seen in films like JhundBrahmastra and Gulabo Sitabo, among others.
