#VIDEO: Theshen Naicker speaks out | Imran Omar served summons

#DURBAN: Actor, entertainer & professional make-up artist Theshen Naicker has finally spoken out over his attack.

Naicker was confronted and allegedly manhandled by Durban foodie enthusiast, Imran Omar.

The incident occurred during an event at a Durban hotel in the passageway of the hotel’s toilet facility where Naicker was allegedly verbally abused and physically assaulted.

Omar and his wife, Kelly Jade are synonymous with Durban food outlets and via their Facebook group, Appetite.

The incident went viral soon after reports emerged in newspapers across Durban Omar had allegedly pinned Naicker on a wall threatening him with violence.

The alleged attacker, Imran Omar was in court today with his bodyguards where Naicker’s attorney sought a Protection Order.

The matter has been adjourned until 7 October for Omar’s legal team will file opposing papers.

Theasen Pillay of TPA Legal representing Theshen Naicker in the matter subsequently slapped Omar with a High Court summons amounting to R850,000. Omar is to also face charges of crimen injuria (assault and defamation) which are being pursued in the Criminal court.

This is not all that Omar will be in the dock for as Naicker has instructed his lawyer, Theasen Pillay to proceed with cases for the Equality Court and Human Rights Commission.

Naicker indicated this incident has motivated him to speak out against matters that affect LGBT individuals and also gender-based violence. Naicker has felt the amazing support from all corners of the globe as this story unfolded and it was evident as he became emotional knowing that his fight is backed by amazing support from social media and his family.

Omar has previously stated,

The alleged attacker said: “Facts are being distorted due to Mr. Naicker making this a publicity stunt to get public support. Currently, there is a criminal case against me. Therefore, I’ve been advised by my attorney, Faizel Kara, not to make a statement which could be self-incriminating.”

Omar has reiterated that facts are being distorted and his legal will oppose all charges relating to the matter.
