#Chappaak: Deepika reveals she burnt acid attack prosthetics to heal emotionally

#BOLLYWOOD: Deepika Padukone is currently prepping up for Chappaak and it is arguably one of her most anticipated films. She is all set to portray the role of real-life acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in the movie.

Months back, the Padmaavat star shared the first look of her film where she had donned the look of an acid-attack survivor with burns and scar tissue. Her look soon went viral on social media, with fans eagerly anticipating the movie’s release.

Deepika has already wrapped the shooting of the Meghna Gulzar directorial which is set to hit the screens on January 10, 2020. Deepika has many a time talked about the challenges she faced while prepping up for her role in the film. Recently, she opened up about how the film has impacted her personally and how she managed to cope with the emotional ride throughout the film.

Padukone, who is also producing the film, revealed that she burnt a piece of prosthetic that she had used during the shoot to get rid of the emotional trauma she had experienced during the shoot, reports TOI.

“I literally had to burn the piece of prosthetics that I was wearing on the last day of the shoot. Because it impacted me in a way that I never experienced before. That was my way of trying at least to let go of everything that I experienced,” she said.

She further added, “I literally burnt it. Prosthetics are expensive, we get charged per piece of prosthetics that the artist makes. But I took a call as a producer, I said I don’t care, I need to heal emotionally.”

The actress shared, “It takes about 2-3 days to prepare one piece. On the last day of the shoot, I gave my makeup artist a heads up that I need an extra piece. She made one and the day we finished, I remember taking the piece, taking some alcohol, went into a corner, poured the alcohol on it and set it on fire. I stood there watching it burn until it had disappeared completely in front of me.”

She concluded by saying, “I don’t think it left my system entirely but that vision of the piece burning is stuck in my head. It affected me in a way that no other movie has before,” reports DNA.

Actors completely get into the skin of the character they are portraying on-screen and this surely leaves an impact on their lives and mental health. We hope her strategy left Deepika completely healed!
