#KWAZULUNATAL: The residents of Tongaat reel in shock after the discovery of a 63-year-old grandmother was found bludgeoned to death.
Now, a 13-year-old female minor has been arrested for the murder at her home in Jan Roz Crescent in Fairbreeze, Tongaat, north of Durban, on Monday.
Security firm Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene and found authorities busy with investigations. Grandmother, Idah Ngcobo was discovered in a pool of blood in her living room suffering blunt force trauma to her head. According to RUSA spokesperson Prem Balram, the 13-year-old minor said she was hanging clothes on the washing line when she was alerted to a noise in the house. Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele told TimesLIVE that the girl told police she saw an unknown man using a hammer to attack her grandmother.
However further investigations led to the arrest of the 13YO for the murder of her grandmother. KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele confirmed to News24 on Wednesday that the teenager would appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Durban’s Daily News, reported that Ngcobo had suffered a stroke last month and could not walk. She lived with her four children and eight grandchildren.
