According to News18, Lata Mangeshkar’s health scare caused a frenzy in the world of social media, where some reports claimed that her condition was critical and some said that she was discharged. Her team had to release a statement to put the record straight.

#CELEBRITYNEWS: There’s hardly anyone in India who doesn’t recognize music legend Lata Mangeshkar. The veteran singer was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital in the wee hours of Monday due to viral chest congestion.

The moment news broke about the iconic playback singer being admitted to the hospital, a string of Bollywood celebrities such as Hema Malini, Adnan Sami, Shabana Azmi among many others prayed for the legend’s speedy recovery.

The iconic singer has lent her voice for actress Hema Malini in many songs like ‘Rama Rama Ghazab Huyi Gawa Re’, ‘Tune O Rangeele’ among several others. Shabana Azmi also teamed up with the singer on songs like ‘Ankhon Men Humne Aapke Sapne’ , ‘Bharle Tumhen Bahon Men’ and many others.

“Lata Mangeshkar Ji had viral chest congestion. Keeping her age in mind, as a precautionary measure, she has checked in to Breach Candy Hospital in order to ensure antibiotics on time to prevent any more infection. She is stable and recovering,” read the statement.

The iconic singer, who turned 90 on September 28, has received India’s highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna in 2001. In her career that spans over seven decades, she has recorded songs in over 36 Indian languages. In 1974, the Guinness Book of Records ranked her as the most recorded artiste in history. She had reportedly sung over 25,000 songs between 1948 and 1974.
