Suncoast Murders

Suncoast case now probed as murder-suicide

#DURBAN: Fifty-year-old Fatima Mohamed and 24-year-old Kresan Chandiah were found stabbed to death in the sand dunes outside Suncoast by a passer-by last week, November 18.

Initial suspicions of the case being a double murder have now fallen away as SAPS spokesperson Brig Jay Naicker explained that the case is now being addressed as a single murder case and an inquest is now being investigated.

“This is as a result of evidence that has been gathered during the course of the investigation, as well as the postmortem that was conducted last week,” he said.

Naicker explained to TimesLIVE that an inquest is opened in the event of “unnatural” deaths, such as drowning and suicide.

Muhammad, a mother of three, sustained multiple stab wounds to her body, while tiler Chandiah was found with a kitchen knife in his chest. The knife is believed to be taken from his home after further investigations were made.
