Varun Dhawan had a close shave when an action sequence for his upcoming film Coolie No 1 went wrong. The actor was shooting a stunt that required close-up shots of him inside a car as it hung off a cliff.
According to a report by mid-day, after the scene was done, Varun couldn’t get out of the car as the door was jammed.
Over the next few minutes, the stunt coordinators tried to extract him from the vehicle. It was a precarious task since the car was teetering on the edge but they eventually managed to get Varun out.
“Varun kept his calm throughout the episode, and finally, escaped unhurt with the help of one of the stunt coordinators,” the publication quoted a source who was allegedly present on the set as saying.
Coolie No 1 is an adaptation of David Dhawan’s 1995 film, which starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. Varun recently shared a photo from the sets of the film with co-star Sara Ali Khan beside him. “Coolie ka pyaar,” he captioned the photo.
In an earlier interview, Varun had said that the film “is not a remake”. “It is an adaptation. While the screenplay remains the same. We are changing a lot of things, and it will be different from the original,” he said. In July, the actor wrapped up filming for Remo D’Souza’s dance film Street Dancer 3D, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor.
The film releases on 24 January, 2020.
