SABC NEWS: As the growing crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic cases rise into the thousands in South Africa, there are mixed reactions from residents in eThekwini – as drivers and passengers made their way to work today. The government of South Africa issued a national 21-day lockdown which came into effect at midnight Thursday.
While some found the transition during the lockdown smooth and helpful, others feel they were not adequately protected. Newsbreak’s Rachel Vadi canvassed their views.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the 21-day lockdown in a televised address to the nation on Monday, insisting that the continent’s most advanced economy needed to escalate its response to the coronavirus outbreak “(to) avoid a human catastrophe”.
Stay at home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority during the coronavirus crisis.
