Merlin Naicker To Head SABC TV

NEWS: The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has appointed Merlin Naicker as their Group Executive of SABC TV, his appointment kicked off yesterday, 1 April 2020.

Naicker’s professional background comprises of a series of successful milestones in his 25 year career and backed by a solid set of qualifications including an MBA from Oxford Brookes,  BSC Hons – Digital Technology, Design & Innovation (DIT) and a Certificate in Advanced Broadcast Law (Wits Law).

One of his key highlights of his career include the delivery of media solutions for the 2018 FIFA Russia broadcast, implementation of broadcast scheduling solutions for various companies, SABC biometric access and CCTV monitoring projects and Parliament TV broadcasts infrastructure upgrades.

I am passionate about media, its socialization, and the effect of media in and on the African continent. I have been in the media field since 1994, and have a wide variety of experience from being a Call Center agent, to managing a Pay TV platform across 53 African countries, to project management of infrastructure projects, to consulting on business strategy and processes.

His experience spans across various digital platforms from holding the CEO post of Wizard Media Consulting, chief content officer for Southtel VOD and head of Satellite Television for Telkom Media, he has also served on various strategic positions for MultiChoice.
