Alleged Drug Kingpin “Teddy Mafia” In Court

DURBAN NEWS: Notorious alleged drug kingpin 62-year-old Yaganathan Pillay also known as ‘Teddy Mafia’ was arrested as part of an intelligence drug operation conducted at Shallcross, south of Durban last week.

It is believed that more than 1-million rands worth of money, drugs as well as gold and silver coins were confiscated. KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker says a 30-year-old man, Jerome Pillay was also arrested at the flat opposite Pillay’s home for being in possession of drugs. A rifle, shotgun, pistol and revolver – were also recovered during the intelligence-driven operation.

According to the Post Newspaper, Pillay appeared at the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court today on charges relating to the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, while Jerome Pillay has been charged counts of alleged drug possession. 

“Two of the firearms were licensed and were seized by investigators for further analysis.”
