South African Preven Reddy aka 'Aunty Shamilla' has bagged the award as ‘African Social Media Star' at the 33rd Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice annual awards.

NEWS: South African Preven Reddy aka ‘Aunty Shamilla’ has bagged an the title ‘African Social Media Star’ at the 33rd Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice annual affair. Reddy was nominated alongside other favourite African stars Patricia Kihoro, Shekhinah, Sho Madjozi and Teni.

The Durbanite initially made history as the first South African of Indian origin to have been nominated for the award and was up against Anne Kansiime from Uganda, fellow South African lip-sync content creator Chanè Grobler and DJ Cuppy of Nigeria in the localized award category. The nominations were announced earlier this year on the KCA blog with the event being hosted by Grammy® Award-winning superstar Chance the Rapper.

Sharing the news on his social media Reddy stated, “I have been crying happy tears all morning. We actually did it. Thank you so much to every single person who voted for me continuously. I am genuinely at a loss for words, this is so so surreal. Thank you for believing in me South Africa.”
