South Africa Parliament Meeting Zoom Bombed With Porn

SABC NEWS: A South African government virtual national assembly session was zoom-bombed on Thursday with porn as DA chief whip Natasha Mazzone was cut off mid-sentence.

The hackers also exchanged sexual insults and racial abuse at chairwoman, Thandi Modise who is the speaker of the South African National Assembly. The parliamentary session was just fifty seconds into the session after 9am on Thursday morning as porn flooded the governmental virtual meet. Modise has shared concern over the use of virtual meeting platform Zoom for the governmental meeting. The session was restarted later after establishing another Zoom meeting with a new link.

“This is exactly what I said about Zoom!” yelled a disgusted Modise where a previous governmental virtual session was hacked on Zoom.

International tech experts have warned users about the platforms its end-to-end encryption after app gained global popularity during the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking to SABC Newsbreak Lotus in response to the incident, technology expert and Managing Director of Black Box Theory, Yavi Madurai says users must be aware of the risks.

The hacking of virtual meeting calls on the Zoom platform has been increasing over the past few weeks as new users join the platform to interact and conduct business during a Covid-19 future. As of Saturday, May 9, all free Zoom accounts will require passwords for meetings, in order to prevent Zoom bombings.
