Teacher Union SADTU Against Educators Returning To Work

SABC NEWS: The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) is calling on affiliated teachers NOT to return to work today. The union says the believe the Department of Education has failed to meet their minimum requirements to ensure a safe working environment for educators.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced that school management teams were expected to report to schools today and teachers will need to report to schools on the 18th of May – a week from today. But, SADTU KZN Secretary, Nomarashiya Caluza says the necessary health and safety measures have not yet been put in place for educators and are therefore urging members to stay at home.
